A Touch of History… Cawarra

Cawarra Cottage, also formerly known as The Willows, is estimated to have been built in 1866. This is the same year that the ill-fated “Cawarra Steamship” also lost up to 60 lives off the coastline at Stockton Beach, Newcastle on July 12, 1866. Deemed to be one of the worst maritime disasters of that era.

Snapshot of Cawarra

Having being lovingly restored to its former glory yet containing the features of modern living this remarkable house has the charm of a bygone era and a secluded quarter acre garden with magnificent old trees and meandering brick pathways. The front entrance, past original tall cedar French doors on the verandah, leads into a spacious central hallway and into a sunlit relaxed dining room beside an amazing kitchen.
